Nuclear War Survival Skills

Jericho, the fantastic series about a small Kansas town in the aftermath of a nuclear war, is returning for its second season on CBS, February 12th.

In case you missed the first season, you can watch it all from the beginning right on CBS’s website - and if you really, really want a jump on the new season, the first three episodes of the second season leaked on the internet via a DVD screener source, and are available on a number of torrent sites, (such as Pirate Bay, although we would never advocate obtaining unauthorized previews in such a fashion, cough ep1, ep2, ep3 cough)…

The show brings up some good questions the difficulties a small town would face, but what about you? How would you survive the “big one”? Luckily, in 1979 the Oak Ridge National Laboratory printed a Nuclear War Survival Guide, and there is now an online version available at http://www.ki4u.com/free_book/index.htm. It covers such topics as obtaining safe food and water, surviving without doctors, finding temporary and building permanent shelters (plans and instructions included), even creating a homemade fallout meter!
