In 1862, the first circulating $50 bill was issued as a United States Note with a portrait of Alexander Hamilton.
Other people who were featured on fifty dollar bills and notes include Benjamin Franklin, Secretary of State Edward Everett, New York Governor Silas Wright, and Secretary of State William H. Seward.
